Occupational therapists support individuals by evaluating the job role and associated duties in relation to the individual’s current functional abilities and limitations following injury, illness or disability.
An assessment considers the work environment – whether onsite, in an office, factory or at home, in conjunction with the individual’s functional abilities and limitations, identifying areas of concern and making recommendations to optimise function, comfort and safety.
Work-based assessments support reasonable adjustments, equipment or strategies to maintain employment, to provide support following a period of absence or support individuals to return to work.
